TOUR GRADING

TOUR DIFFICULTY LEVELS

The motorcycle tour grading system is a valuable tool for riders to evaluate the difficulty and appropriateness of a tour based on a variety of factors, including terrain, weather conditions, and necessary skill level. This system typically spans from beginner to advanced, offering clear insights into the expected road conditions (e.g., paved, gravel, dirt), elevation variations, and technical complexities. Using this grading system, riders can make informed decisions about which tours align with their skill level and preferences.

L.1 EASY

Easy tours (Level 1) are suitable for individuals with average fitness and mobility. The routes mainly consist of asphalt-paved roads in fair condition at normal altitudes. Occasionally, we may ride on coastal or mountain roads, as well as easy dirt roads (less than 2% of the tour) or at high altitudes with varying weather conditions for a few days. The average daily riding time is up to 6 hours, and participants should feel comfortable handling a 200 kg motorcycle. Some tours may involve sightseeing on foot, climbing stairs, and taking ferries.

L.2 INTERMEDIATE

L.2 INTERM.

Intermediate tours (Level 2) require a higher level of fitness and include riding on challenging roads and gravel paths in various conditions, typically for more than 6 hours per day. Some off-road riding experience is necessary, and participants should be comfortable with a 200 kg motorcycle. These tours may also involve longer periods of sightseeing and easy walking, as well as high-altitude and overnight adventure camps.

L.3 HARD

Hard tours (Level 3) demand advanced riding abilities and a good level of fitness. The routes consist of asphalt and slate-paved paths, along with challenging gravel roads at high altitudes with varying weather conditions. River crossings and single tracks may also be part of the tour. Riding time is typically more than 8 hours per day, and night riding may be involved. Participants should be experienced riders who regularly ride off-road. These tours may also include hiking to remote, high-altitude areas with less developed facilities and overnight adventure camps.
