Introducing the new DNA High-Performance Filter Stage 3 MK2, specifically designed for the KTM 790 Adventure R/S and the KTM 790 Adventure R Rally, now available exclusively in KTM orange anodized! Our collaboration with DNA filters, which are revolutionary air filter products made in Greece, began with assisting in the development of a groundbreaking air-box filter for the game-changing KTM 790 Adventure. After testing the DNA filter on our 790 Adventure R for over 2000 km through challenging off-road trails and twisting on-road routes, we can confidently say it has transformed both the 790 and 890 models into the new kings of the hills, closely following the legacy of the old KTM 990 Adventure diva.

Installing the DNA Stage 3 filter on the 790 was relatively straightforward for those familiar with the tools. The new filter is also approximately 28 grams lighter than the stock unit. When starting up the DNA-equipped and Akrapovic-installed KTM 790 Adventure R, it delivers a sound reminiscent of the classic old-school LC8, with the engine revving vigorously, much like the previous generation V-twin powerplant, and the air filter howling whenever you open the throttle wide. It's pure orange bliss! Now, regarding the all-important power delivery question: during a dyno run, we recorded an increase of +5.98 PS at 9,723 rpm and +0.81 kg-M torque at 5,000 rpm on our entirely stock KTM 790 Adventure R engine. Additionally, we achieved a 98-99% filtering efficiency and a +107.86% increase in airflow compared to the OEM airbox. Aside from the Akrapovic slip-on from KTM PowerParts, which primarily helps reduce the overall weight and heat retention of the motorcycle, our KTM's engine remains completely stock—no ECU flashing, no dongles, no de-cat, etc.

One minor issue we encountered on our first ride—if you can call it that—is that the motorcycle virtually bypasses the smooth engine delivery associated with the "off-road" and "on-road" riding modes, offering a rally-style engine delivery consistently. The two modes are now primarily used for fine-tuning ABS and MSC based on terrain. Consequently, when you switch to "rally" mode, you may not notice a change in engine management, as you've effectively been in rally mode all along. This MK2 filter is compatible with all current KTM 790 Adventure S, KTM 790 Adventure R, and KTM 790 Adventure R Rally models (2019-2020), and likely fits the upcoming KTM 890 Adventure S/R models, as not much has changed in the stock airbox design.

Is it worth it? As with most aftermarket upgrades, you'll truly appreciate the difference once it's gone! We had to ride our 790 for a few days without the DNA filter installed, and that's when we really noticed its absence. To recap the performance data:
