March Moto Madness Greece morning rider brief

March Moto Madness Greece 2017 — ADV Rally

March Moto Madness had already taken root worldwide by 2017, unfolding every March in more than a dozen countries. But in Greece, this was a turning point year—the first edition held at The Ranch in Sofiko, the first time the Greek community gathered in a dedicated off-road basecamp, and the first true attempt to transform a simple rally into a full adventure weekend.

Mythical Routes, with the support of Most Wanted Warehouse (Klim Greece), brought the event into this new setting with a clear goal: create a gathering that would show the world what Greek adventure riders are capable of—on big motorcycles, on real terrain, and on pure dirt.

What followed was a weekend that felt honest, unfiltered, and full of the excitement that comes only at the start of something new.

Saturday — A Raw, 100% Dirt Loop

The main ride on Saturday was a 130–140 km gravel loop, straightforward in its concept but rich in character. This was not a manicured route or an event polished by years of repetition. It was raw terrain, real navigation, and the type of riding that reminds you why adventure motorcycles exist.

Moderate difficulty with several “spicy” sections kept every rider alert. Nothing was impossible, but nothing was handed out for free.
The Corinthian soil—dry, rocky, and unpredictable in places—taught riders quickly that weight distribution and confidence matter as much as horsepower.

Happy faces and high moral in the rideThe day’s highlights added cultural weight to the ride:

  • Palaia Moni Faneromenis, quiet and timeless among the pines
  • Aghionori Castle, a Frankish fortress perched at ~680 m, accessible via a short but memorable climb that rewarded the effort with wide views and a rare sense of isolation

Riders arrived back at The Ranch dusty, warm, and smiling—the unmistakable satisfaction of a day fully lived.

Sunday — The First Taste of Skills Competition

Although MMM Greece would evolve in later years with structured training and more elaborate obstacle events, 2017 marked the first time a dedicated Skills Track was introduced. It was modest compared to what would come in 2019, but felt fresh, bold, and deeply engaging for Greek adventure events.

The course was built specifically for large twin-cylinder adventure motorcycles, and riders were asked to balance precision with speed. Every mistake cost time; every clean pass was a small victory. The format was simple, but its effect was immediate—riders discovered how much their bikes (and they themselves) could do when pushed beyond the comfort zone.

Prizes from KlimAltRider, and Enduristan, provided by Most Wanted Warehouse, added a celebratory note to the morning.
But the real prize, as always, was the shared laughter, the camaraderie, and the sense that the Greek MMM community had taken its first confident step into something bigger.

The Feeling of a First Chapter

What set 2017 apart was not scale—it was emotion.
There was an atmosphere of discovery: riders meeting for the first time, learning the terrain together, helping each other through tougher segments, and shaping what the Greek edition of MMM would eventually become.

  • Nothing was routine yet.
  • Everything was new.
  • Energy filled the valley.

Around the saloon tables and under the tall Sofiko pines, friendships formed, techniques were exchanged, and the idea took hold that Greece could be more than just a participant in the global MMM family—it could be one of its most spirited contributors.

Across the three days, one thing never changed: smiles

The inaugural Ranch edition of March Moto Madness Greece delivered exactly what an adventure event should: honest riding, real terrain, cultural depth, and a sense of belonging.

For anyone who loves big motorcycles on dirt, shared challenges, and the simple joy of springtime exploration, 2017 was the beginning of a story that continues to grow.
