FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

DO MYTHICAL ROUTES HAVE A TRAVEL GUARANTEE?

Book with confidence. All tours are covered with Tour Operator Liability Coverage, and Insolvency Coverage via third-party Insurance, according to European Union Directive (EU) 2015/2302, but we recommend all participants to have a personal travel insurance policy that covers medical expenses, liability, and repatriation. In all non-EU tours and expeditions, it is a mandatory requirement that each participant has their own travel insurance policy.

IS A VISA REQUIRED?

Visas are not required for citizens of the USA, Canada, and most countries. You will need a passport. Please conduct your own research if you have a question about a visa requirement for your nationality.

IS IT SAFE?

Greece is a member of the European Union and a well known popular tourist destination. Safety should not be a concern.

ARE ANY SHOTS REQUIRED?

No. We do, however, encourage you to consider hepatitis and to have your tetanus and diphtheria current only because it is a wise precaution if you travel anywhere.

HOW DO I BOOK A TOUR?

Just visit your favorite Adventure Tour and follow the instructions. If nothing is exactly as you wish, you can simply contact us, or opt for a Custom Tour tailored to your needs. Once all is set, you will need to deposit a payment amounting to 30% of the total travel cost is due immediately after receiving the travel confirmation and email us with a copy of your passport and EU or International drivers license for US citizens.

WHAT IS THE CANCELLATION POLICY?

You can withdraw from the travel contract at any time prior to the commencement of the journey. Due to the nature of the motorcycle rental industry, all deposits required to lock in reservations are non-refundable, and the tour operator is entitled to lump-sum indemnities considering normally saved expenses and possible other utilization of the travel services. For a complete list of down payments, withdrawal by the client, cancellation, transfers, substitute persons, visit our Terms of Participation.

CAN I JOIN WITH MY OWN MOTORCYCLE?

Any adventure or dual-sport motorcycle that is road registered and carries a license plate runs DOT-approved knobby tires (off-road tours) and has a fuel range of a minimum of 240km is suitable for our tours. You can also ship your motorcycle and we can help you organize logistics and motorcycle storage.

CAN I LEAVE MY MOTORCYCLE AT YOUR LOCATION?

We can offer you short-term and long-term motorcycle storage, in our safe and temperature-controlled facilities. It will be always adventure-ready with a battery maintainer hook up, and we can offer free airport transfer depending on your storage plan.

CAN I RENT A MOTORCYCLE FROM YOU?

We offer KTM Motorcycle Rentals for all of our tours. We are partners with the biggest KTM Dealers in Greece, so all available motorcycles are in excellent shape with low miles and a range of hand-picked aftermarket accessories that add to their performance, comfort, and long-range capability.

DO YOU TAKE A DEPOSIT ON THE RENTAL MOTORCYCLE?

Yes. We require a refundable Warranty Damage Deposit on each motorcycle rented. The amount depends on the model and ranges from €1000 to €2500. Deposits are due to be paid 30 days before the commencement of the journey, deposited to the business bank account of the tour operator, and will be fully refunded after the motorcycle gets inspected and shows no mechanical or cosmetical damage caused by the rider.

ARE ALL THE ROUTES PRE-PLANNED?

Our tours are pre-planned, but within our itineraries, there is always a place for flexibility. Depending on your needs, skills, and/or weather conditions we offer the possibility to choose from different tracks. Lodging is always prearranged, so you know where we’ll be at the end of the day.

WHAT ABOUT THE LANGUAGE?

English is widely spoken and we will have at least one Greek-speaking staff with us on the tour. Communication comes easy in Greece where the people are friendly and eager to engage with you.

WHAT IF I WISH TO STAY OVER LONGER OR ARRIVE EARLY?

We are prepared to facilitate any of your needs for an extended stay either before or after the tour. Hotels, guides, transportations, special interests. Just let us know and we will get everything organized.

CAN I GET TRIP SHORTENS OR EXTENSIONS?

Our tour itinerary is calculated according to our riding days. If you book a minimum of two (2) participants, it is possible to variate the tour duration and itinerary. Maybe it is a good idea to book a Custom Tour instead and have it designed accordingly for your needs. In any case, you can just contact us and we will help you as best as we can.

ARE THESE TOURS GOOD FOR COUPLES?

Absolutely. You will regret leaving your spouse at home! All On-road Historical Tours can be ridden "two-up", with reasonable daily distances and a fun schedule of events and activities make this a fine riding holiday. Unfortunately, this is not an option for Off-road Adventure Tours.

WHAT IF MY WIFE DOESN’T RIDE?

Any friend, family member, or partner is welcome to join us in a comfortable support vehicle that also serves to carry the luggage (available upon request). This is a common request. You will want to share this with your loved ones.

WHAT ANCIENT GREEK HISTORICAL SITES WILL WE VISIT?

We will be visiting all important Hellenic archeological sites, both famous UNESCO World Heritage sites and well-hidden ancient treasures. Our tour leaders are the most scientifically qualified motorcycle guides in Greece. For more information on the ancient architectural sites we are visiting, please visit History.

HOW DIFFICULT IS RIDING ON YOUR OFF-ROAD TOURS?

All our routes are designed with the average rider in mind, so there are no single-tracks, and all tracks can be ridden on anything from the KTM 690 Enduro to the BMW R1200GSA. Many tracks are in remote areas and reach a high elevation where road maintenance is minimal if non-existent. You can expect to cover sections of the road with deep ruts, loose rocks, and other challenges. You may also encounter sections that have trees or branches over the road.

COULD YOU HELP A NEW RIDER IN OFF-ROAD TOURS?

If you are new to off-road riding or getting rusty from long winters, we can arrange for some Off-Road Training before departure.

I HAVE A PRIVATE GROUP. IS THERE SOMETHING JUST FOR US?

Private and Custome tours are our specialty! If you have something you wish to have exclusive for your friends, family, riding club, or dealership, we can make it happen. Our expertise, your adventure.

WHAT ABOUT WILD ANIMALS?

Greece is one of the safest countries concerning wild animals, with only a very small number of brown bears, wolves, and vipers. Also, 95% of snakes in Greece are completely harmless, but keep your distance, since antivenom treatment is very hard to find in remote locations.

ADVENTURE TOUR GRADING

L.1 EASY

Image

Easy tours (Level 1) are accessible to most people with an average level of fitness and average mobility. We ride asphalt-paved roads in fair condition and normal altitudes. On certain routes, we ride on coastal or mountain roads that are easily accessible, with varying landscapes, but we may also have to travel on easy dirt roads (less than 5% of the tour) or at high altitudes with varying weather conditions for a few days.

We ride up to 6 hours/day for most days and you must be comfortable handling a 200 kg motorcycle. Tours may involve sightseeing on foot, some climbing of stairs and getting on and off boats.

L.2 INTERM

Image

Intermediate tours (Level 2) require a higher level of fitness since we ride asphalt-paved roads and slate-paved paths, but for the most part of the route we ride challenging roads and gravel roads in various conditions, depending on the weather. There are no single-tracks in these tours. We ride for more than 6 hours/day for the most part of the tour.

You must have some experience in off-road riding and must be comfortable handling a 200 kg motorcycle. Tours can include longer periods of sightseeing and easy walking. High altitude and overnight adventure camps may feature.

L.3 HARD

Image

Hard tours (Level 3) require advanced riding abilities and a good level of fitness, as they are physically more demanding. We ride asphalt-paved roads and slate-paved paths, but for the most part of the route, we ride challenging gravel roads at high altitudes with varying weather conditions. River crossings and single tracks may feature.

We ride for more than 8 hours/day for the most part of the tour and night riding may feature. You must be an experienced rider and ride off-road regularly. Tours may involve hiking to remote, high altitude areas where facilities are less developed and overnight adventure camps may feature.

If you are new to adventure riding but want to experience some serious travel enduro, or just want to refresh your skills, we offer Off-Road Training so that you get ready for anything the road might bring your way (an extra charge will apply).

Liability Disclaimer: The route grading system has been compiled in good faith. It is the participants’ responsibility to choose a route level that is appropriate for them, depending on their experience and skills. In any event, our specialized staff will help you choose the perfect route for you.
