TOUR FAQs
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Every great journey begins with a question—or a few. Planning your motorcycle adventure with Mythical Routes should feel as effortless as the ride itself, so we’ve gathered the most common questions our riders ask before setting off. Here you’ll find everything you need to know about bookings, accommodations, itineraries, and travel requirements. Our aim is simple: to provide clear answers and practical details, so you can focus on the road ahead—and the unforgettable stories waiting to unfold.
Absolutely. Greece is one of the safest destinations in Europe, both for travelers and riders. As a full member of the European Union, it maintains high standards of road safety, healthcare, and infrastructure. Crime rates are low, and encounters with wild animals are extremely rare. In addition, our routes are carefully planned, and your tour leader is always equipped with first-aid training and communication support to ensure your journey remains secure and worry-free.
You’ll have no trouble communicating in Greece. English is widely spoken—especially in hotels, restaurants, and tourist areas—and locals are known for their friendliness and willingness to help. On guided tours, your tour leader handles all local communication, ensuring a smooth and relaxed experience wherever the road takes you.
Absolutely. All our road tours are perfectly suited for two-up riding, offering a comfortable pace and carefully planned daily distances that allow both rider and passenger to fully enjoy the experience. Each itinerary balances scenic riding with time to relax, explore, and enjoy shared moments—whether it’s a sunset by the sea, a walk through ancient ruins, or a dinner in a local taverna. Many of our participants join as couples, making it a truly memorable journey to share.
No problem at all. Your partner, friend, or family member is welcome to join the adventure in comfort, traveling in our support vehicle—which also carries the group’s luggage. This allows non-riders to enjoy the same landscapes, cultural stops, and activities without being on a motorcycle. Additional costs apply for vehicle participation, and a minimum number of participants is required for this option to operate. It’s the perfect way to share the journey—each in their own way.
Yes. If your booking includes at least three participants (3 motorcycles), you can extend your tour’s duration or customize the itinerary to match your plans. Whether you wish to add a few extra days by the sea, explore additional archaeological sites, or continue your ride to another region, we’ll make it happen. Simply submit your tour request as usual and mention your desired extension in the comments section—our team will tailor the experience to suit your schedule and preferences.
Each Mythical Routes tour is designed to blend the thrill of riding with the depth of Greek history. Depending on your chosen route, you’ll visit some of the country’s most important archaeological landmarks—from world-renowned UNESCO World Heritage sites like Delphi, Mycenae, and Epidaurus to lesser-known ancient sanctuaries, fortresses, and villages hidden off the main tourist path. Our itineraries are curated by architects and historians to ensure every stop reveals a meaningful part of Greece’s cultural story—both the legendary and the undiscovered.
Visas are not required for citizens of the USA, Canada, the UK, and most EU or Schengen-area countries when traveling to Greece. Riders from other nations should verify visa requirements with their local Greek consulate before departure.
All participants must hold a valid passport—it must remain valid for the entire duration of the trip (a passport expiring during travel is considered invalid).
For riding eligibility:
- EU citizens must possess a Category A motorcycle license (minimum 2 years of experience).
- Non-EU riders, including those from the USA, must present an International Driving Permit (IDP) alongside their national motorcycle license. This is essential for both legal operation and insurance validity within the European Union.
Ensuring your documents are up-to-date and valid before arrival guarantees a smooth and worry-free start to your journey.
Our routes are designed for riders with moderate experience and a sense of adventure. There are no single-track trails or extreme enduro sections—every tour can be comfortably ridden on an adventure or dual-sport motorcycle. However, many of our routes explore remote and elevated areas where road conditions can vary and maintenance may be minimal. Expect a balanced mix of well-paved roads, scenic mountain passes, and occasional gravel or uneven sections that add to the experience.
Each tour includes a detailed Tour Grading to help you choose the one that matches your skill level and riding style. A good command of your motorcycle and comfort with long-distance riding are all you need to enjoy the journey safely and confidently.
Our Greek motorcycle tours include the use of a Premium BMW motorcycle as part of the package—so, in general, private motorcycles are not used on standard tours.
However, if you’re interested in joining with your own bike, we can arrange a custom guided tour for groups of at least three riders and a minimum of five riding days. This allows for full logistical and insurance coverage under special conditions.
Simply contact us with your request, and we’ll explore a tailored option that fits your plans. Please note that additional fees may apply for custom arrangements.
We coordinate handpicked hotels in your name along the route, preparing all necessary reservations so the itinerary flows smoothly from day to day. Everything is arranged for you, allowing you to focus entirely on the ride.
Our role is to provide a professionally guided riding experience. Personal insurance remains the rider’s responsibility, and having appropriate coverage is essential for your safety and peace of mind. Each participant is required to hold valid health and accident insurance that includes medical evacuation or repatriation coverage to their home country. This ensures you are fully protected in case of illness, injury, or unexpected travel disruption.
We may request proof of insurance before or during the experience.
For optimal protection, we recommend reviewing your policy carefully or obtaining a specialized plan suitable for motorcycle riding.
Each rider participates under clear liability conditions designed to ensure safety and fairness throughout the experience. The participant is fully responsible for any personal injuries or property damage resulting from intentional misconduct, gross negligence, or violation of safety rules, and shall indemnify and hold Mythical Routes harmless from third-party claims arising from such actions.
"Intentional misconduct or negligence" includes, but is not limited to:
- Reckless or aggressive riding (e.g., wheelies, racing starts, dangerous overtaking)
- Riding under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or medication
- Failure to follow traffic laws or the instructions of the tour leader
- Unauthorized off-route riding or misuse of the motorcycle
- Operating the motorcycle without reasonable control or ability
Motorcycle Rental & Insurance
The motorcycles used during the experience are provided by an independent, licensed motorcycle rental company. Each participant enters into a separate rental agreement with the rental provider and is subject to the rental company’s insurance terms, conditions, and exclusions.
Mythical Routes does not provide motorcycle rental services and is not a party to the rental contract.
Insurance coverage, deductibles, and limitations are determined solely by the rental company. Any damages, costs, or penalties not covered by the rental company’s insurance—including repair, towing, or administrative fees—remain the responsibility of the rider according to the rental agreement.
